Lahore: Jamat Islami (JI), while sticking to its stand on ‘Martyrdom’, has said Pakistan Army has no right to interfere in political affairs, say media reports.
JI’s Secretary General Liaqat Baloch had a media talk Monday (today) in Lahore.
According to media reports a consultative session of JI was held at Mansoora in which the party’s leaders analysed the press release of ISPR in which it said that JI Chief Munawwar Hussain should apologise from the families of martyrs.
Responding to this press release Liaqat Baloch said that the army had issued an unprofessional and political press release.
He further said, “Army has no right to interfere into political and democratic affairs of the country.”
He also said, “The whole country needs to get united,” adding that, “The policy of ex-dictator should be changed.”
“Our struggle against american slavery and to protect the Islamic, ideological, and geographical boundaries of the country will continue,” Liaqat Baloch added.
Liaqat Baloch refused to answer questions put forward by media.
On Sunday night, the ISPR issued a press release strongly condemning ‘the irresponsible and misleading’ remarks of Munawar Hassan in TV programme, declaring dead terrorists as shaheeds (martyrs) while insulting the shahadat (martyrdom) of thousands of innocent Pakistanis and soldiers of the army.
The press release called for an unconditional apology from Hassan for hurting the feelings of the families of Pakistani soldiers who were martyred while fighting terrorists.
