PTI approves IK name for opposition leader

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Core Committee has rejected Sheikh Raheed and approved Imran Khan’s name for polls of opposition leader in the National Assembly.
Imran Khan, Chairman of the PTI, chaired a meeting of party’s Core Committee in Islamabad on Saturday, where party leaders exchanged views over many issues including name of the opposition leader.
The meeting endorsed name of Imran Khan and disapproved Shekh Rasheed’s nomination to contest in polls for opposition leader in the Parliament.
When Tehrik-e-Insaf contains majority in the house then why Sheikh Rasheed is being nominated for opposition leader in the assembly, commented the PTI members during the meeting.
Imran Khan has agreed to contest opposition leader’s post, in the Parliament, on advice of party members, told sources after the meeting.
The PTI core committee has decided of not taking support of the MQM for opposition leader’s election in the National Assembly, added the sources.
The committee gave approval for launch of a countrywide protest, on November 1, against mounting inflation in the country, moving ahead on party’s decision to challenge appointment of NAB Chairman, participating robustly in upcoming elections of the local bodies.
